چکیده

High density light detection and ranging (LIDAR) imaging has been shown to be able to define yield stability areas of a field for multi-cropping. Since LIDAR imaging is expensive and not widely available, it was hypothesized thatmedium resolution GPS elevation datawhich is commonly collectedwith variable rate technology (VRT) controllers andcropyieldmonitors couldbeused in lieuof LIDAR imaging. If proven, growers would be able to construct yield stability maps of their fields without the expense of obtaining LIDAR imaging. After substituting medium resolution GPS elevation data derived from the crop yield lobal positioning system ight detection and ranging recision agriculture

An automated GIS procedure for comparing GPS and proximal LIDAR elevations

High-resolution elevation surveys utilizing light detection and ranging (LIDAR) are becoming available to the geoscience community to derive high-resolution DEMs that are used in a variety of application areas. However, prior to the application of these data to geomorphic interpretation, extensive validation procedures should be employed. The vertical accuracy specification for the survey calle...

The Effect of LiDAR Data Density on DEM Accuracy

Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) play an important role in terrain related applications, and their accuracy is crucial for DEM applications. There are many factors that affect the accuracy of DEMs, with the main factors including the accuracy, density and distribution of the source data, the interpolation algorithm, and the DEM resolution. Generally speaking, the more accurate and the denser the...

River bathymetry from conventional LiDAR using water surface returns

LiDAR–based DEMs are almost essential when it comes to high resolution floodplain modelling. Conventional LiDAR does not penetrate water bodies and additional bathymetric measurements are necessary to complete any parts of a DEM which were under water at the time of the LiDAR sortie. Bathymetric data collection is time-consuming, expensive and it requires careful processing to correctly interpo...
